What a turn around

Only a couple of weeks back and sport New Zealand wasn’t looking so hot.  We couldn’t beat an egg and all of a sudden we’re on a winning streak.  First off retaining “the Auld Mug”, cheap at half the price if you have a few bucks to throw away.  Will it come back here, don’t think so with the sponsors probably having the biggest say.  While these new boats are brilliant to see flying we somehow need to bring some sailing and match racing back into the game.  That said I’d love to be a passenger on one, doing 40kn’s across the water.

Then of course the women won the T20 World Cup overnight after one of the worst runs of results in a long time.  Well done ladies.  And not to be outdone the men gave the Indians a good hiding in India in the first test.  That said and knowing how sporting the Indians are I can imagine the next two tests will be a spinners paradise because we have no idea how to play spin.  The ball will be turning sideways as soon as its left the bowlers fingers!!

Giving the dingo’s a bit of a kicking in the first Constellation Cup game as well was like Christmas had come early.  Given the Poms gave the girls a bit of a hiding earlier a great comeback game against the Ozzies, although with 3 games to go it’s a bit early to be polishing the silver ware.  (But that is where you’ll find Mr Card, great win Steve.)

Fancy as a patient wanting to understand what’s happening in hospitals.  What the hell is wrong with this country if nurses have to converse in a foreign language to be understood.  The idiot PC brigade have again forgotten what the core issue is and that is health care, looking after the patient and getting the treatment right.  That is first and foremost.

Despite the money spent on Te Reo this is an English speaking country, unless of course we want to become third world.  If hospital staff in a situation where patients aren’t present want to talk in other than English in a non-professional environment I don’t have a problem with that.  I’ve worked in that environment for many years and as a child lived in that environment so understand it.

But for goodness sake were I in a hospital in NZ and staff were talking in my surroundings I would want to be comfortable that their English was perfect and what was being said appropriate.  This so that if I needed to understand what was said there was no communication barrier.  As they say practice makes perfect and while on the job English should be the only language heard from staff.  PC brigade, stick it where the sun doesn’t shine, morons.
