2024 Pre Christmas Business House Bowls

The first week of the pre Christmas tournament took place on the 6th of December with some rusty looking bowlers taking part together with some new teams to the comp, great to see.  The fishermen, as is there want, when it came to measuring somehow reversed the size of the distance between jack and bowls.  Had it been a fish the opposition were always winners given the distance between jack and bowl, whereas the fisherman only caught tiddlers and thus were closer the jack, strange that.

Redlines and No Ushers closed out the top three on the night but the Bowled and Beautiful were 4th even given one of their players was playing off one leg.  Well done ladies.

And in an even stranger turn of events the trophy was returned for the competition in an undamaged state, even if covered in cobwebs.  Love the dusting Tim.

The 13th and 2nd week of bowling and it was a little damp but everyone got out and played.

The Fishing Club dropped off top spot to be third on differential, but only a point behind the top two.  The Bowled and Beautiful still carrying one of their players (literally!) jumped up to 2nd with inspired bowls all round.  Redlines claim top spot playing against lesser competition by all accounts, not that they will own up to that.

Crackerjacks, who?  As past winners they will need to do a hell of a lot of practice, lying and payment backhanders to get anywhere near the trophy at this stage.

Despite the weather on week 2 it was great to hear that players still enjoyed the occassion and look forward to next week before a one week break while the World Champ of Champ singles is on.  Come and have a look at some of the best in the world.  November 25 to 30.

Thanks again to Harcourts and Wendy Treadwell and New World Browns Bay for sponsorship of the tournament.
